When using an inverted microscope, you need to have a lot of patience. You won't be able to look through the object simply by looking at it. You must first put the microscope's lid on and then place the object you want to look at inside the glass case. Next, turn on the inverted microscope so that you are able to see the ungloved side of the object.

Begin by placing the microscope's eyepiece toward you and look through the eyepiece. You will see a black tube with a bar through it. Look carefully at the object under the microscope and hold the magnifying glass firmly against the tube with the bar through it at the tip. With the tip of your fingers cover the tip of the telescope while looking through the eyepiece. You'll need to move the glass over to get to the dark side of the object you're looking at, then flip it over so that you are looking at the light side.

Have one of your hands on the microscope's handpiece so that you do not touch the object while it is in your hands. Start up the microscope's motor when you feel ready. The motor will rotate the slide slowly so that the image is captured in your camera. Then use the other hand to take a photograph.

If you are using a full-scope inverted microscope camera, the object and its surroundings should be perfectly visible. You will see the specimen through the eyepiece. If the object is very small or is moving, you may have to zoom in on the object with the microscope's mouse. Some models of the inverted microscope have a wheel which you can turn for closer examination.

When you are done using your inverted microscope, store it tightly in a sturdy case. Make sure the warranty is still intact before you put it away. If you are planning on using an electric version, be sure that the cord is kept dry when you unplug the microscope from an outlet. You also need to take care to properly power the unit and protect it from shocks while it is being used.
