Know What You Can Expect Out of Colposcopy Gynecology

When most people think of gynecology they often think of things like pap smear tests, pelvic exams and the like.colposcopy gynecology However, there is a whole field of gynecology called colposcopy that involves an examination of the reproductive organs and their structures.

The reproductive organs are the largest organs in the body.colposcopy gynecology colposcopy gynecology They contain a large amount of fluid that can be quite difficult to inspect at times when you're pregnant. For this reason it is common for women to have their gynecologist perform a colposcopy before getting pregnant.

This exam has become more common as medical advances have made it possible for women to get the procedure done as soon as possible after a miscarriage or during another medical exam. The procedure is usually performed by a gynecologist who is a doctor specializing in female reproductive health and specifically in gynecological cancer. If you've ever heard about this exam, chances are you were probably told that it is used for detecting the early stages of cervical cancer. However, it is also commonly called a colposcopy and it can also be used to examine the ovaries, the fallopian tubes and the uterus.

When a doctor performing gynecology uses a colposcopy, they are able to get a better view of the organs themselves and their functions. There are several different types of colposcope. Some are handheld and they are used for a shorter time. Others are stationary and they are used to do a longer search. The way the colposcope works is that the doctor inserts it into the vagina or rectum through a small opening and the doctor's scope is able to see things much better.

A colposcopy may also be used by a gynecologist to determine if a woman needs any additional tests. The doctor may want to perform a pelvic exam to see if the woman does have any pelvic infections. It is also common for a gynecologist to perform a Pap smear test to check for cervical cancer. This is very common and if a woman has this test and does not have any abnormalities she is usually safe to start on birth control pills.

It is always best to talk with your doctor about what you are interested in doing and what you can expect to get out of the visit. It is also important that you have someone there with you so that you do not feel embarrassed about it.
