A Gynecology Colposcope is a surgical operating microscope fitted with a light. The colposcope can magnify the area between 10 and 40 times; some colposcope also can take photographs and videos.
Colposcopy is a procedure that allows a physician to take a closer look at a woman's cervix and vagina using a colposcope. Using the device, abnormal tissue or blood vessel development in the vagina and around the cervix can be identified and tissue samples were taken for biopsy, if necessary.
Colposcope helps to identify abnormal areas of the cervix or vagina so that small pieces of tissue (biopsies) can be taken for further analysis.
